Carleton celebrates 140th with traditional Milo Day
The traditional Milo Queen contest took place last Saturday as the Village of Carleton celebrated its 140th anniversary with its annual Milo Day event. Special guest at the pageant was 2012 Miss Nebraska Mariah Cook (pictured above in yellow). Young ladies were also extended an invitation to become princesses for a day by meeting and greeting the candidates and riding with Miss Nebraska in the Milo Day parade. Long standing traditions such as the serving of milo pancakes, cutie contest, horse show, demolition derby and parade rounded out activities for the day. Pictured above are the 2012 Milo Queen candidates (princesses are not named) including (l-r): Front row: Miss Oak McKenzie Martin; Miss Carleton Jennifer Mick; Miss Davenport Tara Pavelka-first runner up; Miss Nebraska Mariah Cook; Miss Alexandria Becca Taylor; and Miss Fairmont Gabriella Wythers.
