Two Accused of Stealing Belvidere Four Wheeler
A local man and woman were taken in to custody Sept. 25 on suspicion of stealing a Belvidere man’s four wheeler.
Earlier that afternoon, the Belvidere man observed a four-wheeler being driven down a road near his home. The four-wheeler looked identical to one he owns.
After checking his residence, he found that his four-wheeler was indeed missing. He contacted the authorities and provided a description of the suspects.
At around 2 p.m., Sheriff David Lee observed two subjects matching the description near 1st Street and Olive Avenue in Hebron.
When he tried to contact them the two attempted to flee but were caught when a sheriff’s deputy approached from the opposite direction.
The accused were taken into custody and lead law enforcement to an area northwest of Hebron where the four-wheeler was recovered.
The investigation and questioning of the suspects lead to further information of a burglary which occurred on Sept. 20 at the Pioneers Inn in Gilead.
Matthew Wright, 19, Hebron, was booked into Thayer County Jail for two counts of burglary and one count of theft by unlawful taking. All counts are felonies.
Breana Zoubek, 19, Belvidere, was released after being interviewed with charges pending.
