Work to Begin on US-81
Weather permitting, construction work is scheduled to begin the week of April 6 on US-81, beginning at the Kansas state line and ending at York, according to the Nebraska Department of Roads.
Ten Point Construction Co., Inc. of Denison, Iowa, has the $2.256 million contract for the 62-mile project.
Work will include cross-stitching, concrete pavement patching, grinding and sealing of the existing concrete roadway.
Cross-stitching is a repair technique for longitudinal cracks and joints.
During construction, traffic will be maintained with lane closures and reduced speeds. Work is anticipated to be completed by late fall of 2015.
The Department of Roads’ manager for this project is Dennis Endorf of Fairbury.
Motorists are urged to drive cautiously through highway work zones.
