Deshler man’s case dismissed

Juston L. Schmidt was released from jail Thursday, Jan. 3, after Thayer County Attorney Dan Werner dismissed his case and district judge Vicky Johnson signed the order. The 38-year-old Deshler man was accused of two counts of sexually assaulting a child and two counts of incest, all felonies.

“The charges were dismissed with the ability to refile,” said Werner, “and an investigation into the case is continuing.”

Schmidt was being held at the local law enforcement center on a $250,000/10 percent bond since his arrest in November.
