Free Medicare Part D Enrollment Event Scheduled in Hebron

The Nebraska Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) will host a Medicare Part D enrollment event on Thursday, October 24, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Hebron Secrest Library, 146 N, 4th St, Hebron.
Enrollment events allow those on Medicare to sit down one-on-one with a Nebraska SHIIP certified counselor and evaluate Medicare options for 2014.
Appointments are required. To schedule an appointment, or for more information, contact the Nebraska SHIIP at 1-800-234-7119 or 402-471-2841.
It is important to remember that a plan’s prescription coverage changes, too, even if the monthly premium stays the same. People with Medicare should examine their 2014 choices starting on October 15 to be sure that they are enrolled in the most affordable Part D or Advantage plan for next year.
“Your health needs change from year to year. Your drug plan changes, too,” said Jones. “That’s why it’s important to evaluate Medicare choices every year. But you don’t have to do it alone. Medicare and Nebraska SHIIP provide free counseling.”
There are several ways for people with Medicare to get help:
• Talk to a SHIIP-certified counselor by phone between October 15 and December 7. Call the SHIIP hotline at 1-800-234-7119.
• Visit http://www.medicare.gov/find-a-plan to compare your current coverage with other plans or enroll in a new plan.
• Call 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227) 24 hours a day, seven days a week to find out more about your coverage options. TTY users call 1-877-486-2048.
