Lewis pretrial hearing continued until May

Michael Lewis, who was due for a pretrial hearing April 5, was granted a continuance by Thayer County District Judge Vicky Johnson until May 7 at 9:45 a.m.
Lewis, is charged with use of a firearm to commit a felony and first degree assault in the shooting of Reuben Elting in Hebron Oct. 27. Elting survived his injuries, however, his brother, Remington did not.
Lewis has not been charged in Remington Elting’s death. Thayer County Attorney Dan Werner said he is waiting on more information from the Nebraska Attorney General’s Office.
There are eight NSP investigators involved and future decisions will be based on a comprehensive review of the reports, Werner added.
