THE EDGE Dance Team Reaps Rewards at National Competition

THE EDGE competition dance team competed in Wisconsin Dells at Rainbow Dance Nationals on July 6 to July 11.

THE EDGE is made up of dancers from director Tamara Culhanes three studios, The Dance Project in Hebron, Studio 3 in Fairbury, and Crete’s Dance Co. in Crete. THE EDGE choreographers are Tamara Culhane, Tayler Culhane and Sara Pohlmann.

Dancers of the Junior division Hebron area include Brooke Sasse, Mikki Sasse and Meghan Brandt. The Hebron Teen Division includes Grace Souerdyke, Chloe Souerdyke, Madison Sasse, and Hailey Wilschusen. Kassie Kent participates in the Senior Division.

THE EDGE brought home many trophies, special and cash awards, as well as several national titles.

The week ended with honors. Three dance routines from THE EDGE were invited back to dance in the Grand Finale on Saturday, July 11, for National Grand Champion. Those three dances were part of the top 40 highest scoring dances out of hundreds to recompete in the Grand Finale.

Overall results:

Eight and under division: “Ain’t No Other Man,” a jazz routine, received a Platinum award and a runner up in the Grand Finale.

Juniors division: “Bom Bom,” a jazz routine, and “Girls,” a pom routine both received Platinum awards.

Teens division: “Pressure,” a tap routine, “Wonder Woman,” a jazz routine, and “Let You Down,” a pom routine, all received Platinum awards.
“Top Secret,” a character routine, won Double Platinum, first place overall high point score and Teen Large Group National Champions and was invited back to dance in the Grand Finale.
Seniors division: “Ready,” a pom routine, received a Platinum award
“Got The Moves,” a tap routine, received a double Platinum award and Senior Small group fourth place overall high point award
“Chandelier,” a jazz routine, received a special judges award for intensity, Double Platinum award, Senior Small group second overall high point score and invited back to dance in the Grand Finale.
“Toxic,” a lyrical trio, and “Need,” a contemporary trio, received Platinum awards.

Solos: Brennan Kolbo received a Platinum award for her contemporary routine, “Am I?”
Regan Kolbo received a Platinum award for her pointe routine, “Nightingale.” Kolbo also won runner up for Senior Dancer of the Year receiving a trophy and crown.
Lindsey Turner received a double Platinum award and 15th overall high score placement out of 48 senior entries in her division.
After rocking a hip hop solo, Kassie Kent, Hebron, received a Double Platinum award, first place overall high point score and Senior National Champion. She performed her routine a second time for Senior Dancer Of The Year and won again. She received a fourth trophy, crown, special D.O.Y jacket, medal and cash prize.

National Senior Photogenic award: Regan Kolbo was awarded the title of Rainbow’s National Senior Photogenic for her photo submitted.
