75-ton crane capsizes
A semi-trailer truck driver hauling a 75-ton crane from Houston, Texas, to SAC Air Force Base in Omaha, apparently dropped a tire off the road south of Foote’s Station in Chester Monday night, Jan. 21, causing the crane to become unbalanced and tip over on its side. The driver was pulling away from C& M Supply. The secured crane tipped the oversized trailer causing it to twist as shown in the top photo. Wreckers from York, Columbus, Kearney, Lincoln and Omaha worked all day Tuesday to right the huge piece of machinery (shown above). The crane was reportedly built in Italy.
