Historical Society to ring in season with 39th annual Fall Festival
The Thayer County Historical Society is busy sewing up details for its 39th annual fall festival, Oct. 7, at the Thayer County Museum grounds in Belvidere. The theme for this year’s celebration is “A Stitch in Time.” Several demonstrations will be on hand featuring old-time sewing techniques such as embroidery, knitting, crochet and quilting.
The day begins with the traditional dinner served at the Belvidere Community Center starting at 11 a.m. As is customary, the dinner features a wide selection of homemade food including pies and cakes.
Also on tap will be crafts, pumpkins, needlework, china painters, a farmers market, and food booths as well as old-time farming demonstrations such as blacksmithing, rope making, horseshoeing and a laundry demonstration by Edna Reinke and Pat Schardt.
Also, featured entertainment includes Blue Grass musician Bob Dawley, plus other musical entertainers.
