Deshler man killed in fall
A tragic accident claimed the life of a young Deshler man early Saturday morning, Nov. 10.
According to Thayer County Sheriff David Lee, Taylor Horse Chief, 19, was found dead laying in the road near the old Deshler water tower Saturday morning at 6:10 a.m., by a passer-by who called 911.
Sheriff Lee said that while an investigation into the death is underway, officials believe Horse Chief fell from the tower to the ground below. “We believe it was a tragic accident,” the sheriff said, “but we are continuing to investigate the circumstances.” An autopsy and toxicology tests have been ordered.
Horse Chief, who has a twin sister, is a 2011 graduate of Deshler High School and is the son of Darrell and Tami (Bell) Horse Chief of Deshler.
A funeral has been planned for Friday, Nov. 16, at 2 p.m., at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Deshler.
