Neil Dennis to be Featured at Southeast Nebraska Grazing Workshop
Neil Dennis, a widely traveled and recognized grazier and expert on the benefits of high density grazing is scheduled to be the feature speaker at the Dec. 3rd, 2012 conference at the Gage County Fairgrounds in Beatrice, Nebraska.
Hosted by Five Rivers RC&D and the Southeast Nebraska Grassland Association (SENGA), the “Neil Dennis Event: A Focus on Animal Density and Impacts as Management Tools” will highlight Dennis’ grazing practices and techniques for high density grazing. Traveling all the way from Saskatchewan, Canada, Dennis has presented in seven Canadian provinces and throughout the United States. He has developed a system to move 1,000-plus head of cattle easily with minimal stress. His practices have improved carrying capacity by 300 to 400%.
The one day conference will begin at 9 am and conclude at 5 pm with dinner following the event. Topics included in Dennis’ presentation include:
•Building soil health with high stock density grazing.
•Pasture and water layouts, livestock water needs.
•Tools and equipment needed to make the process easier.
•Bale grazing, swatch grazing, winter watering.
•Modifications to corrals to make cattle flow.
•Manure patties in high-intensity grazing.
•Types of cattle that work for you.
