2013 Water Jamboree set for September 25-26
The 2013 Water Jamboree Committee will hold the 23rd Annual Water Jamboree to be held September 25-26 at the LBNRD Recreational Area Liberty Cove outside of Lawrence.
Nearly 700 5th & 6th Graders throughout Adams, Clay, Fillmore, Thayer, Nuckolls and Webster Counties will attend this two-day event. They will participate in various “hands on” activities geared towards the importance of preserving our natural resources. High school students will escort the groups in their rotation of eight different stations. They will examine the drought conditions, irrigation methods, life in and outside the lake, a Skeeter’s life, Edible Aquifer, the Power of Water and Migration Headache.
This festival is free to the participating schools and costs are off-set by the Little Blue and Upper Big Blue NRDs. Presenters are from the University of Nebraska Extension, Natural Resources Conservation Service, NRDs, South Heartland District Health Department and volunteers.
