Concordia man dies in early morning accident – Deshler woman injured

Amanda K. Fayle, 21, of Deshler, suffered severe injuries Friday morning following a head on collision between Deshler and Hebron. The driver of the other vehicle, Andrew K. Sandoval, 27, of Concordia, Kan., died.

Fayle was taken to a Lincoln hospital by helicopter after Hebron and Deshler rescue workers transported her to Thayer County Health Services. Fayle’s infant son who was strapped into a child safety seat in the back seat was not hurt.

According to a release from the Thayer County Law Enforcement Center, the accident happened a few minutes before 6 a.m., on Nebraska Highway 136 approximately 2.5 miles east of Deshler.

Sandoval, who was pronounced dead at the scene, was westbound when his 2005 KIA Spectra was struck head on by a 2005 Hyundai Elantra driven by Fayle. The severity of Fayle’s injuries are unknown.

According to the release, Highway 136 was closed and traffic rerouted for approximately 2.5 hours.

The accident is under investigation.
