County prepares for election
May 1 is the last day to register to vote in this year’s primary election. The mail-in voter registration deadline for the May 12 primary is April 24.
The Thayer County Clerk’s Office has taken applications for early ballots, which began Jan. 13.
The general election is Nov. 3.
Incumbents for schools, cities and county commissioners have until Feb. 18 to file. The deadline for new candidates to file is March 2.
Candidates for village offices have deadlines of July 15 for incumbents and Aug. 3 for new filers.
The Thayer County Commissioners have one seat out of three open for this year’s election. Commissioner Rick Dageforde’s term is up this year.
The Thayer Central Community Schools district has three seats open -— Tyler Tietjen, Rob Marsh and Curt Mumm.
In the Deshler Public Schools district, Andrew Schmidt has re-filed. Two incumbent seats for Maurice Schardt and Brian Isernhagen, are open.
Sarah Krenke and Daniel Domeier are the incumbent seats open for the Bruning district.
Don Kuhlmann’s seat at the Village of Byron is open. He has re-filed.
For the Hebron Airport Authority, Joe Hergott has re-filed.
The county clerk will publish the the notice for all open seats in the Jan. 29 issue of the Hebron Journal-Register.
