Fair features Eli Young Band
Grammy and Country Music Association nominee Eli Young Band headlines the entertainment for this year’s fair inside the Thayer County Speedway Aug. 9 following opening band, D.J. Bridwell at 7:30 p.m.
The band out of Texas with three top Billboard singles, like “Crazy Girl” and “Even If It Breaks Your Heart,” will play on the infield of the speedway. Concert-goers are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs and blankets for an up-close performance.
The Thayer County Fair Board is excited to bring the band to the area, and offer ticket sales at all Thayer County banks until Aug. 1.
On concert night, the gates open at 5 p.m., for ticket holders only, and that includes the beer garden.
The Eli Young band comes to town packing its fourth album released two years ago, “Fingerprints,” co-written by band members and several successful writers in Nashville.
Explained in a press release, “Fingerprints” takes listeners back to the live concert sounds of guitar, bass, drums and vocals. The album kicks off with a single released in 2016, “Saltwater Gospel.”
Over time, the band has perfected its organic flavor in clubs, amphitheaters and stadiums from coast to coast, according to the “About” section at eliyoungband.com.
D.J. Bridwell band will warm the crowd up playing country music originals laced with rock. The band has logged accolades for top artist and band of the year, and two nominations for male vocalist of the year.
That evening, the Knights of Columbus will serve a Windsor Pork Chop and Trimmings meal under the Grandstands from 5 to 7 p.m.
The fair is from Aug. 8-10 with Ozark Amusements Carnival from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m., each night.
The Thayer County Speedway schedule for 2019 precedes the fair July 31 with Hobby Stocks. It continues Aug. 4 for the Remington Elting Memorial with a purse each for stock cars and modifieds and sport mods.
