Hebron runners-up in Class C Legion Baseball State Tourney
Hebron ended its contention at the Class C State Baseball Tournament as runner’s up after defeating Sutton in an elimination game, 9-1, but falling to Shelton-Gibbon in the championship game, 5-1, Wednesday night at the Hebron Sports Complex. A sizeable crowd was on hand to witness the three-way play-off for the trophy. Against Shelton-Gibbon in the championship game, Hebron threatened in the first inning, but started to fall apart from there. Behind defensive miscues and two hits, Shelton-Gibbon managed to get a couple of runs to end the starting period. They scored again in the fourth before Hebron was able to bring in a man in that same inning. Shelton-Gibbon fired in a couple more runs in the fifth to make the board read 5-1, the eventual winning score. Hebron’s Preston Brinegar pitched the loss.
