Lincoln, Shickley men sentenced to jail terms

Andre L. Pierce, 40, Lincoln, was sentenced in Thayer County District Court Oct. 14, to one year in jail for attempted possession of money used in a transaction involving a controlled substance. The charge is a class one misdemeanor. Pierce also received 32 days of time served and must pay court costs of $138.
The Lincoln man was stopped in Hebron by local law enforcement personnel Sept. 16, 2009, at 1 a.m. The police officer discovered Pierce had outstanding warrants in Lancaster County and arrested him.
Initially, Pierce was also charged with intent to deliver a controlled substance but that charge was dropped in a plea agreement. He is currently serving his time in the Thayer County jail.
Also in district court, Robert E. Miller, 50, Alexandria, was arraigned on five felonies to which he pleaded not guilty. According to court documents, the local man was arrested Sept. 16 after using a .22 handgun to shoot up the inside of a home in Alexandria and hold someone against their will.
He is charged with making terroristic threats, false imprisonment, possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person, use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony and the unlawful discharge of a firearm.
He is currently in the Thayer County jail on a $150,000/10 percent bond and is scheduled to appear for a pretrial on Dec. 9.
In county court action, on Friday, Oct. 15, Christopher A. Manning, 33, Shickley, was sentenced to 270 days in jail for a charge of attempt of a class 3A or class 4 felony. The charge is a misdemeanor I and sentencing was made in county court.
According to the arrest affidavit, Manning was arrested for stealing gas from Superior Deshler, Inc., between  Jan. 1 and March 28, 2010. The Shickley man must also make restitution of $596.31 and pay $59 in costs.
