Santa Sightings

Santa Claus will be making his annual appearances throughout Thayer County over the next couple of weeks. Following is a list of communities, times, and dates locals can expect to see St. Nick.

Alexandria: Santa will visit Alexandria Saturday, Dec. 22, at the Legion Hall at 2 p.m. Treats, cocoa and cookies will be served and pictures will be taken with Santa. The Christmas Lighting Contest will be held in the evening.

Bruning: Santa will be at the Bruning State Bank this Saturday, Dec. 8, from 8:30-10 a.m. The bank is also accepting new and gently used toys for its annual donation to Blue Valley Community Action.

Byron: Santa will be at the Byron school, Saturday, Dec. 22, at 1:30 p.m. There will also be drawings for a ham, turkey and cash sponsored by the Byron Lions Club and Byron Fire Department.

Carleton: Santa will make his annual appearance at the Carleton school building Saturday, Dec. 22, at 2 p.m. The Christmas drawing will also be held. The Carleton Businessmen’s Club sponsors the event.

Davenport: Santa will make his annual visit at the Davenport Fire Hall Saturday, Dec. 22, at 2 p.m. Santa treat bags are provided by the Davenport Lions Club and the American Legion will also hold its annual Christmas drawing.

Deshler: All ages are invited to the Deshler Lions Club “Breakfast With Santa” at the Deshler Lutheran School, Saturday, Dec. 8, from 8-9:30 a.m. The area Chamber of Commerce will host pictures with Santa from 9-10:30 a.m., and there will be a kid’s craft table for children as they wait to talk to the jolly elf. Deshler Lutheran Friends of the School will also feature a Christmas Cookie walk.

Gilead: Santa Claus will make his annual visit to the Pioneer’s Inn from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 8. And, weather permitting, horse drawn trolley rides will also be available.

Hebron: Santa has already made an appearance in Hebron at the annual Christmas Fair, but kids will still be able to find him at his hut during the annual Christmas Stroll this Sunday.
