Tietjen wins Miss Heartland at state fair pageant
Allison Tietjen of Chester won Miss Heartland at the Miss Nebraska State Fair and Miss Heartland Pageant. The pageant was held at the Nebraska State Fair in Grand Island on September 2.
The pageant is a local, official preliminary for the Miss Nebraska Scholarship Pageant and the Miss America Pageant and is open to contestants between 17 and 24 years of age.
Contestants are judged on the categories of interview, on-stage question, evening wear, lifestyle and fitness in swimsuit, and talent. They are also required to select a platform to promote throughout their participation in the pageant.
Tietjen won the fitness in swimsuit and overall talent categories. The platform she promoted was “empowering young women through community service.”
Tietjen is the daughter of Cary and Amy Tietjen.
Winners of both titles are eligible to participate in the Miss Nebraska Scholarship Pageant next June in North Platte. The winner of that pageant then advances to the Miss America Pageant.
