Chester man killed in Kansas crash
A Chester man was killed Wednesday morning after crashing into a semi tractor trailer on U.S. 81 near Belleville, Kan.
Stuart D. Sutton, 76, of Chester, was attempting to cross the highway at 9:31 a.m., Wednesday morning about one mile north of Belleville, when he ran his 1998 Chrysler sedan into a northbound 2005 Peterbuilt semi truck being driven by Jack E. Zaloudek, 74, of Kremlin, Okla.
According to an accident report submitted by the Kansas Highway Patrol, Sutton was in the crossover lane between the southbound and northbound lanes of U.S. 81 when he entered the northbound lanes to cross to Marble Road. He drove his vehicle into the driver’s side of the semi.
He was not wearing a safety belt and was ejected from the vehicle where he was found dead at the scene. His body was transported directly to the Bachelor-Surber-Dart Mortuary.
Zaloudek, who was wearing a seatbelt, was not injured
Sutton owned and ran Chester Spray, Inc., in Chester.
