Mural perfect fit for Majestic Theatre
Chester artist Cindy Chinn kept several things in mind when creating a mural for the newly restored Majestic Theatre. Movie magic and production, historical detail to the county seat and special acknowledgement to the Saving the Majestic project culminate in a painting that says let’s go to the movies here at home. She also personalized the canvas using people she knows such as her artistic partner Art Whitton, shown as the cameraman, and her brother Allen Chinn, shown as the sound man.
Chinn weaves these and other details into an 8 x 10 foot acrylic creation of the backlot of a western film in production; a perfect fit for the lobby of the local movie theater.
Jim and Deb Cossaart commissioned the artist to create the mural for the newly restored Majestic Theatre and on Wednesday evening last week along with the Arts Council of Thayer County (ACT), held an unveiling ceremony at the theater.
