Officers and Firefighters Respond to Three Injury Accidents

Rescue workers responded to three motor vehicle injury accidents last week in Thayer County.

The first occurred on Jan. 27, around 7:30 p.m.

Thayer County sheriff deputies, along with Hebron and Deshler Fire, responded to a roll over vehicle accident west of Deshler.

The female caller was unsure of her location at the time of the call; however, firefighters and officers located the scene west of Ruskin on Highway 136.

The female driver and a passenger were transported by Deshler and Hebron Rescue to Thayer County Health Services (TCHS) for treatment.

The Nuckolls County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the accident.

On Jan. 29, around 9:25 a.m., the Thayer County Sheriff’s Office, Nebraska State Patrol and Chester Fire and Rescue responded to a single vehicle rollover accident at mile marker five on Highway 81.

According to the Thayer County sheriff’s Facebook page, a pickup pulling a small trailer was traveling southbound when one of its tires blew out causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle.

The vehicle rolled causing injury to an 18-year-old male passenger.

He was transported to Thayer County Health Services by the Chester Rescue Unit.

The driver, an adult female, and the front seat passenger, an adult male, were taken by private vehicle to the hospital. Both required treatment.

Seat belts were in use for both front seat occupants; however, it was not in use for injured backseat passenger.

The Nebraska State Patrol investigated the accident.

The Thayer County Sheriff’s Office and Chester Fire and Rescue then responded to an injury accident on Jan. 30 at 10:45 a.m.

Charles Dinkel, 58, of Chester, was crossing Highway 81, eastbound on Highway 8.

Dinkel failed to observe a northbound vehicle driven by Christina Colson, 38, of Hebron.

According to the Thayer County sheriff’s Facebook page, Dinkel’s vehicle struck Colson’s causing it to spin out of control and hit a utility pole.

Colson was transported to Thayer County Health Services by Chester Rescue.

Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol responded to the scene and assisted with the investigation.

Seat belts were in use in both vehicles.
