Cattlemen’s Ball rally registers volunteers

Everything anyone wanted to know about the Cattlemen’s Ball June 1-2 at Hergott Farm was clarified during a Sunday meeting at the Stastny Community Center.
In addition to providing a crowd of approximately 180 people information about the ball, opportunities to register to volunteer and questions about donations and programs were also part of the late afternoon meeting.
Speakers included the ball’s advisory board chairman, Ray Bennett; ball co-host Randy Hergott, who explained Hergott Farm’s layout; ball co-host Rob Marsh, who introduced event cochairs. The cochairs then spoke on their responsibilities and sub-committees.
The audience heard the monetary goals for this year’s ball, ticket sales goals and other information from the Cattlemen’s Ball website at cattlemensball.com, where people interested in volunteering can fill out a form. Attendees were also encouraged to tap the Cattlemen’s Ball Facebook page for likes and shares.
The meeting also featured a video of the Fred and Pamela Buffett Cancer Center and a collectible rifle was auctioned, led by Brad Elting.
The rifle was just one of 25 custom-made rifles by Henry’s Rifles for the ball. The bidding went fast and over $1,800 was raised. The rifle went to Bob Marsh.
Following the meeting, an energized crowd met with a variety of committee members for volunteer opportunities and had the chance to purchase tickets, raffle tickets, Promise Petals and make donations.
Approximately 50 people registered to volunteer. To date, nearly 450 volunteers have registered.
Ball public relations spokesperson, Karla Deepe, said 57 zip codes have been represented thus far.
“We have individuals from Wallace, Neb., all the way to Chicago, Ill.,” Deepe said.
Colorado and Nevada are also recorded.
