Hebron Fourth of July big hit despite heat
Hebron held its annual Independence Day celebration last week on Wednesday, July 4. Heat ruled the day as the temperature threatened to break the 100-degree mark, but large crowds graced several of the activities.
On Sunday, July 8, the local area saw some much needed relief from the stifling heat and dry conditions as isolated rain showers moved across the county. According to the NeRAIN network, Hebron caught about .74 to .50 inches of rain and Monday morning received another .35 to .26 inches. Davenport received the most – 1.44 to 1.35 inches in areas. Deshler, Byron and other areas to the south and west of the county seat did not receive any measurable precipitation during the two day potential.
