Stierlen goes to prison

Travis Stierlen, 21,  was sentenced in Thayer County Court to the Nebraska Department of Corrections last week by Judge J. Patrick McArdle on three class one misdemeanor charges. The Hebron man was found guilty of procuring for a minor, assault in the third degree and attempted criminal mischief, and sentenced to 365 days on each count.

His charges stem from an incident last June in which he threatened to punch a 13-year-old teen if the teen refused to drink alcohol. According to the arrest document on file at the Thayer County courthouse, the teen was riding around Hebron with Stierlen and other individuals.
Stierlen was initially charged with felony theft after allegedly stealing a vehicle and wrecking it that same day, but in a plea agreement the charge was downgraded to attempted criminal mischief.

The two sentences for procurement and assault will run consecutively, or back-to-back, while the sentence for criminal mischief will run concurrently, or at the same time as the other two. Stierlen is also responsible for making restitution of $3,279.64.
