Felony theft lands two in jail

Thayer County law enforcement arrested two people from Belvidere last Friday and charged them with felony theft.

Andrew B. Collins, 34, and Breana L. Zoubek, 19, were taken into custody on July 11 after allegedly stealing two transformers belonging to Norris Public Power District. The transformers, valued at $1,550, were reported missing from a fenced in substation near Bruning by a Norris employee June 30.

Later, the owner of Palecek Implement in Munden, Kan., reported to local police that two people had tried to sell him the transformers.

On July 1, the transformer casings were discovered abandoned near Palecek Implement – the oil and inner contents removed.

As of Tuesday this week, both Collins and Zoubek were in custody on $50,000/10 percent bonds.
