Group begins process to save Majestic Theatre

After hearing that the majority of people in Thayer County would like to have a local theater, a group of area residents has formed the Arts Council of Thayer County, known as ACT. This group has started actively fundraising to create a non-profit organization to keep the Majestic Theatre in Hebron open under a new vision and new management. The council intends to promote and support performing and visual arts through films, concerts, plays and other events. “We believe art, music and theater are vital to a strong, family-centered community,” said ACT member Deb Cossaart. “For more information or to read the meeting minutes visit our website www.savingthemajestic.com. New members are always welcome to join the group at meetings which are held weekly on Tuesdays at 5 p.m. at the Thayer County Courthouse Clubroom.” If anyone is interested in having a member visit their group or would like more information about how the committee plans to create the new Majestic, contact Deb Cossaart at savethemajestic@diodecom.net or call 402-440-5975.
