Humphrey Pleads “No Contest” to Sexual Assault Charges
James Humphrey, 50, of Davenport, pled “no contest” to first degree sexual assault of a child in district court last Thursday at his pretrial hearing. Humphrey’s original charges included one count of sexual assault of a child-first degree (class 1B felony), one count of sexual assault of minor-first degree (class 2 felony) and two counts of third degree sexual assault of a child (class 3A felony).
The Davenport man is accused of sexually assaulting two minors between the dates of Oct. 31, 2013, and April 3, 2014.
His sentencing is set for June 12 at 9:45 a.m.
In other news, Danny Haines, 36, of Deshler, pled “not guilty” to the four charges against him: 1) use of a firearm to commit a felony (class 1 felony), 2) first degree sexual assault (class 2 felony), 3) terroristic threats (class 4 felony) and 4) strangulation (class 4 felony).
Haines stands accused of threatening and assaulting his girlfriend on March 1, 2015.
His pretrial is set for May 7 at 10:45 a.m.
