Train Hits Grain Truck
Around 7 p.m. on Oct. 29, the Thayer County Sheriff’s Office investigated a non-injury accident involving a grain truck and train.
The accident occurred near the intersections of County Road 6000 and County Road V.
Cameron Kumpf, 28, of Fairbury, was traveling northbound on Road 6000 in a grain truck pulling a grain trailer.
Kumpf said he did not see a westbound train until its lights reflected off his truck and trailer.
The westbound train struck the grain trailer causing it to overturn.
The driver was cited for failing to obey railroad crossing signal.
At the time of the call it was unknown if injuries had occurred so Hebron Fire and Rescue responded to the call as well.
The Nebraska State Patrol also responded to the scene.
